Counselling and Psychotherapy
We all experience difficulties
in our lives and often cope with them on our own or with friends or family. However, there are times when some difficulties
remain unsettling and confusing. This is when people may seek help.
I consider counselling and psychotherapy to be similar activities concerned with addressing life problems,
including distress, suffering, predicaments, crises, developmental needs and wanting to have a more fulfilled life.
I
provide a safe and confidential environment in which to help people talk about their problems and issues. Deeper
or clearer understanding can lead to making appropriate choices or changes.
My specialist areas include: anxiety, bereavement, depression, families,
identity, isolation, loss, parenting, redundancy, relationships, self-esteem, stress and work related issues. I also see people who have chronic illness and neurologically diverse syndromes such as ADD / ADHD (attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder) and bipolar
disorder.
I have experience of working
with other difficulties including: abuse, anger, recovery from addiction and self-harm.
I work with men, women and young people usually
above the age of 16. I offer long and
short term therapy giving the opportunity either to look at life generally or to focus on a specific issue. Typically
the meetings are weekly and last for just under an hour.
